Preparation of a long term vision and strategies for the regeneration of Balbriggan, an historic industrial and fishing town in North County Dublin.

The project team worked closely with the community and local business groups. Consultation workshops were well attended and contributed to deriving a ‘bottom up’ plan that represents a community consensus and local priorities.

Early project team recommendation; such as temporary street pedestrianisation were already being piloted while the plan was being drafted. The Public Realm plan sets out a clear hierarchy of ‘quick win’ or short term projects and projects with a medium to long term horizon. It is hoped the plan will stimulate cooperation between landowners and the local authorities to deliver strategic improvements in the form of new street linkages and enhanced street frontage.
